❖ 8/18: TDM toplevel » I'm alive. Or, at least I feel like I'm alive. The Story Eater has flung us all into this strange dreamlike world and stripped us of our essences.

The few tapir-like locals say a fragment of myself now resides here. I don't know what happened to the rest of me, though I highly suspect he's back in prison... Which reminds me, I need to get out of these prison clothes as soon as possible. I forgot how uncomfortable this chain around my neck was.

Anyway, the tapirs also say we're made of Dream-motion energy now? I'll have to look into that. They've also provided me with a lantern that apperently records dreams and a journal that functions much like the one the Story Teller gave me. I think I still have it somewhere...

❖ 8/18: TDM » Good news! I found Alice here too, and she managed to cut off the shackle with her vorpal blade. I don't understand how she managed to aquire such a powerful kitchen knife, but thankfully she's quite skilled with it. I think she said it helped her save Wonderland and herself from some unmentionable person who once tried to alter her memory...

I can't help but feel concern, but she seems to have already taken care of him.

❖ 8/18: TDM » Apperently we are all capable of entering dreams and shaping them as we seem fit. Easier said than done, especially when dreams tend to not make sense at all. I was a pumpkin for some time. A pumpkin! How was I able to see or speak?!

❖ 8/18: TDM » I met a strange fellow in that dream. A blindfolded man with an owl at his side. I was helping him out of what I could only assume to be a wad of sticky gum when he thanked me by name. He says he knew me from some mansion with a Greek sounding name, where I was a "survivor" known as "the prisoner," invited to participate in some perpetual hunt as prey. I professed I remembered nothing of that nature and explained I was living in the Index.

At least the blindfolded man wants to continue being on good terms with me. He even requested that I go by first name basis with him. It feels strange, having a complete stranger know me so well, but so far he's been nothing but kind.

❖ 9/11: Notebook » I recived a letter from the Story Teller concerning the status of the Realm of Stories. It seems our collective efforts have fixed things up to a point where the realm can make a full recovery on its own. Our souls managed to make it out unharmed, which is good for most everyone, though I have a feeling I will be horribly confused if the rest of me is back in my original body...

More concerningly, it seems the Story Eater escaped with us. I must warn the others.

❖ 9/12: Notebook » Met a fellow with similar memory issues, but he claims the source of his ailment was magical in nature. Doesn't trust the fae much.

❖ 9/13: Notebook » I feel I've met a kindred spirit. They claim to have studied ancient technology from her world that was much more advanced than what her current world has access to. I can't help but be curious.

❖ 10/12: Log » Suddenly got ejected into a shared dream. Must play the part of a "spooky monster" and blend in. Otherwise, the dream might be ruined.

Beware the food. I ate something I shouldn't have and got turned into a toad. Thankfully Miss Rose found me quickly enough.

The fire talismans look oddly familiar. I think I saw them on those goblin seals I broke in the dream? Maybe someone might post something in their journal about it.

❖ 11/3: Log » Madame Blackbird's Boutique has finally opened up. She gave everyone a new outfit and the Halloween costume from the "Dream-shift" in appreciation of those who helped her gather materials. If I want any new outfits from her in the future, I must either find the right materials or help her at the shop. At least I can finally discard that prison shirt for good!

The Hat Maker means no harm, even though he is frighteningly tall and sometimes makes frightening machines. He's graciously allowed me use of his workroom since I'm polite and "interesting." Although I can't help feeling a bit skeptical, I don't think I'd get any better oppertunity in this world. I'll have to pay him another visit soon.

❖ 11/09: Notebook » Miss Futaba has offered to show me how her laptop functions! She's also looking for a more efficient way to power electrical devices, and those crystals Kazuma mentioned to her might be the awnser. I'll have to see if they would have any use for my inventions.

❖ 11/09: Log » Alice's accquaintence seems to have trapped himself in a house full of dogs. She's called for help. If anything happens to me, I can only hope the damage isn't too serious.

❖ 12/01: Log » I've been assigned Ichiban Kasuga as my Secret Santa. I'm to give him some manner of gift by Christmas, I assume. His preferences are included in the letter attatched to this page.

The organizer has offered to deliver the gift for me so I don't accidentally send it to the wrong person. I've also suggested a sort of map system to keep track of which treehouses are occupied.

Left eye seems bruised and will not open all the way. He has trouble seeing out of it, but he doesn't think he's gone blind in it.

Hardly goes anywhere without his toolbelt. After regaining his cutlass from his time in Forgotten Tales, he tends to keep it sheathed where the leather strap on his toolbelt used to be.

~~Unfortunately wearing his old prison uniform at the moment, but at least the metal shackle around his neck was removed by a good friend of his.~~

Finally got a more presentable outfit from Madame Blackbird's boutique. He tends to wear an eyepatch more often now that he's realized his left eye just isn't going to work properly anymore.

The bruised eye sometimes shows up on the wrong side of his face or vanishes entirely.

ABILITIES

Regular Abilities

"Conductor"

The only good thing Luca got from that accident was the ability to hold an electrical charge. It builds up as he works, especially if he's using something that has an exposed wire or some sort of electric current. In this setting, strong emotions can charge him up as well. Once he's charged up, he can release this energy at will. He has no control over how much electricity is released, given that he releases the full charge all at once, but it's enough to stun someone for a short period of time, but the target will develop a resistance to the shocks if zapped multiple times. Also, once he's released the electric charge, he can't zap any more until he recharges.

Canon Skills

Good with electrical wiring and tinkering! While he isn't too familiar with technology from beyond the late 1800's, he would happily try to learn about "future technology." Also a decent dancer and pianist.

Essence Remnants

While Luca does not get to keep any magic powers from his time as The Count of Monte Cristo, he still retains two skills: Swordfighting and the ability to operate a boat.

Dreamotion Abilities

Disguise

A carryover from his essence. He's able to shapeshift into any human/humanoid/sentient being for an hour. However, he retains his old abilities and that busted eye of his. He also isn't able to turn into any species he's never met, and he can't turn into other player characters. Taking damage will turn him back to normal.

Electric Cutlass

When charged up via "conductor", he can summon a sword made of electricity. Good thing he kept his sword fighting experience, huh? Unfortunately, he can only maintain the sword's form for thirty minutes before it explodes into static electricity.

The Boat

Summons a paddleboat. Very simple form of an old essence trick, but it works.

INVENTORY

DREAM CRYSTAL LANTERN

The lantern housing Luca's dream crystal resembles a dark lantern from the mid 19th century. Fills with dreamotion energy whenever Luca dreams and works as a power amplifier. Also used to view and enter dreams.

JOURNAL

Thankfully looks different from the journal he used in the Realm of Stories. As the journal always has empty pages to spare, Luca has been using a section of it for his own personal notes as well as a communication device.

TOOLBELT

Contains a hammer, a screwdriver, a wrench, some wires and rope. Tends to have it on his person when not in dreams.

CUTLASS

A regain from Forgotten Tales. The very sword he used when he held the essence of Edmond Dantes. He's able to channel dreamotion energy through and electrify the blade.

RAINBOW CRYSTAL STAR

A small star pendant that Luca attatched to his toolbelt. Inside it is a small rainbow crystal fragment that will provide the wearer with a limited power boost to dreamotion abilities. Channeling focused, determined emotions will give the user a 5 minute power boost and can be used up to three times a day. The strength of the boost is the equivalent of one level advancement.

OLD JOURNAL

Luca's journal from Forgotten Tales. While it has no magic function, all of Luca's notes from the Realm of Stories are in there!

REGAIN BAUBLE (x2)

You're supposed to toss this into the wishing well and wish for an item from home. It seems Luca has some baubles he's not sure what to do with yet...

FIRE MAGIC TALISMANS

Red paper talismans that bear some resemblance to those goblin seals he encountered during the Halloween dreamshift. According to the note, tne simply has to throw it at an undead enemy outside of dreams and it will burst into flames, causing severe damage. 0/5 used.

HEALING TALISMANS

Golden white paper talismans used to purify anyone afflicted with curses and can be effective in weakening noctaere. They can also be used to soothe anyone having nightmares or starting to turn into a noctaere. 0/5 used.

CANDY CORN GOLEM SUMMONING TALISMANS

Summons a small candy corn golem that can attack a targeted foe, mostly be spewing candy goop and throwing giant candy corns. They will last until they are killed or for half an hour. 0/2 used.

HALLOWEEN COSTUME

A gift from Madame Blackbird. How was he supposed to wear this, again...?

MEMORY SNOW GLOBE

A small snow globe that on default will display a mansion on an island, where Luca resided in the Realm of Stories. Whenever he's feeling nostalgic about something, the snow globe will change to reflect what they are thinking about.

UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER

It may be tacky as hell, but it's fairly warm and Luca likes the light up bits. Who knew technology would advance to such great heights?

ROSE CURE

A small vial filled with special rose extract that will cure any curse that is related to love or hatred. The entire vial must be consumed and must remain sealed until its use for it to be effective. 0/1 Used

ROSE CURE RECIPE

Came with the rose cure. Requires roses from the Rose Garden from the central plaza.

MASQUERADE COSTUME

A mask and the design for the costume Luca wore to that Masquerade ball in Lindwormeo and Juliet. He'll have to see a tailor to get the whole thing recreated with materials he provides.

PERSONALITY

Before the accident, Luca's peers had their own words for describing him; He was a friendly, educated person full of curiosity and pride. Someone who might have been just a bit too trusting of others. However, some things have changed since the accident and prison.

He certainly doesn't have as much trust in people as he did, for instance. Luca did suspect the inventor who took him under his wing of plagiarism, but he can't remember if he was right to do so. The inventor's own claims about Luca's betrayal do not help matters. He's also capable of holding grudges, since he used to hate his father for ruining the family's finances.

His pride in himself has also taken a hit. Being arrested for murder charges when you barely remember what happened can do that to a person. He wonders how anyone could think of "a grease monkey like him" as cute, and would more readily compliment other people than himself. However, while he understands he’s done time and still wears reminders of that, he sees himself as a free man who could create wonders if he got the chance.

He has to struggle with his own mind as well. The accident that left the man he once worked for dead also left him with permanent brain damage in the form of memory loss. Not only are huge chunks of his past gone from his mind, but days tend to blur together for him and he has trouble retaining new memories. He's capable of retaining parts of major events in his life and is more likely to remember certain states of being if he's been in them long enough (e.g. being the inventor's assistant, being in jail, helping the storyteller...) but details such as names and dates are going to be forgotten if he doesn't have reminders. At least he retains all of the technical knowledge he's learned so he can work on machines and wiring, but having terrible memory does not help his focus at all. For this reason, he used his Forgotten Tales journal as a diary to keep track of things happening. Very useful workaround, will continue to do so in Songerein if he is allowed.

Still, nothing will stop him from pursuing his greatest dream: To finally bring his greatest invention to life. Invention is the only thing that seems to keep him moving forward at times where it seems all hope is lost, and he is happiest when he gets to sit down and work on new technology that could be used to better the world. Unfortunately, the fact that he lost everything after he was sent to prison and had no money to fund his greatest project made him absolutely miserable. How could that wonderful machine ever be completed without funding? Helping out in the Index was a second chance for him. Though he did what the Storyteller asked of him out of gratitude, much of Luca's free time was spent figuring out how to apply his inventions to the Index and slowly working up towards his dream invention. He strongly believes that invention will be worth everything he went through and would do almost anything for it, even take risks that may cost him his life.

However, Luca might be a bit sheepish to go into detail about his past. Much of his time in Forgotten Tales was spent trying to start over from a clean slate, which was easier when no one knew of his reputation or the fact he’d been to prison. Luca was only comfortable talking about his past to people he trusts, and that's not many people. Ironically enough, in spite of this tendency Luca continues to look for hints about the things he's forgotten. He might not like the revelations, but surely there's some bit of knowledge he's forgotten that might help him with his dreams!

His ambition to invent isn't the only good thing about him. He's still a friendly sort who gets along with most people and he's still rather polite in spite of it all. He's happy to show off his inventions, especially that grand invention when he finally completes it, but otherwise he presents himself rather humbly. He also retains an interest in new technology and will start fiddling with electric wires if you leave him in a room with them. In fact, he may get so invested in tinkering that he won't notice anything else right away.

HISTORY

Canon History

Luca’s childhood is largely unknown to the public and he can’t remember much of it himself, but he comes from an aristocratic family. His father was a brilliant man, or so Luca assumed after he found three pages of an incomplete draft, but he lost his fortune to failed investments and had to sell his wife’s dowry to pay them off, causing his wife to die of shock. Luca could not forgive the damage his father had done to his family and future, so he ran away to seek his own success.

Even after what happened, he had a great interest in inventions. He was determined to finish what his father started himself, which led him to seek out Alva Lorenz. Lorenz, the city’s famed inventor, seems to have some ties to Luca’s father (and his manuscripts). It was no surprise that he eventually saw value in Luca and made him his apprentice. Luca had to give up one of his own manuscripts for the opportunity, but he was confident his own worth would exceed that of any document. Things started off so well, people assumed that young Luca would one day inherit the Inventor’s role...

Everything came crashing down as their experiments failed.

It started with an academic dispute. Lorenz claimed that someone broke into his laboratory and stole valuable research. Although police suspected this to be the work of Lorenz’ competitors, the great inventor blamed his own apprentice, calling him an ungrateful traitor and claiming he was selling his research to his competitors. Luca had a claim of his own, that the man he worked for was nothing but a fraud who kept stealing ideas.

Nobody knows the truth of the matter. Luca continued the experiments on his own, but... The last thing Luca remembers about his final experiment was Lorenz shoving him to the ground... While Luca was holding a live wire. The electricity went out of control and caused a horrible explosion. Three dead, two severely injured, one with minor injuries. Luca was among the survivors, though his injuries resulted in brain damage. Lorenz was among the deceased.

Luca was arrested for murder and conducting illegal experiments. He doesn’t remember how long he had been on death row, but someone finally pardoned him from the death penalty at the last second. Not that it did much good; he was still imprisoned and forced to do factory work, his wealth and possessions were sold off to compensate the inventor’s widow, his reputation was in shambles... And worst of all, he didn’t have the focus or funds to complete his own grand invention.

Forgotten Tales History

Instead of finding an invitation in his locker, he found a strange book asking him for help. He agreed to the terms, not expecting to have his soul teleported to a magical land and paired with the essence of Edmond Dantes (AKA the Count of Monte Cristo). This turned out to be a huge improvement in his life, since this meant he was free from his sordid past, and Luca was grateful that the Storyteller gave him a chance to start over. He didn't mind going in and helping repair stories, just so long as he gets to work on his inventions between missions.

Of course, there were obstacles between him and achieving his dream in a new world. Firstly, the Index was actually behind Luca's time when it came to harnessing electricity, so in order for his invention to work he had to first reinvent the electrical circuit. Rather hard in a place that leans towards magic, but he tried. Learning about technology from "the future" (i.e. folks from the 21st century teaching Luca about computers, smartphones, and karaoke machines) helped inspire him.

He also didn’t really like to talk much about his past to anyone except for one close person (Alice Liddell) and maybe one guy who might have been through something similar. He thought folks might get the wrong idea about him.There were some slip-ups in this regard, but if anyone noticed they didn’t seem to make a big deal of it… So maybe it wasn’t so important?

He also requested a few documents from his past to help fill the gaps in his memory. He attempted to ask for stuff related to his invention, but what he got were some old experiment records, a police announcement regarding the fateful explosion, a diary entry, and an old cover letter he wrote himself that mentioned some hints to his past. Not what he expected, not exactly what he wanted back… But he may as well hang onto those, knowing how his memory is now.

Before the accident, Luca's peers had their own words for describing him; He was a friendly, educated person full of curiosity and pride. Someone who might have been just a bit too trusting of others. However, some things have changed since the accident and prison.

He certainly doesn't have as much trust in people as he did, for instance. Luca did suspect the inventor who took him under his wing of plagiarism, but he can't remember if he was right to do so. The inventor's own claims about Luca's betrayal do not help matters.

His pride in himself has also taken a hit. Being arrested for murder charges when you barely remember what happened can do that to a person. He wonders how anyone could think of "a grease monkey like him" as cute, and would more readily compliment other people than himself. However, while he understands he’s done time and still wears reminders of that, he sees himself as a free man who could create wonders if he got the chance.

He does have to struggle with his own mind as well. The accident that left the man he once worked for dead also left him with permanent brain damage in the form of memory loss. Not only are huge chunks of his past gone from his mind, but days tend to blur together for him and he has trouble retaining new memories. He's capable of retaining technical knowledge and parts of major events in his life and is more likely to remember certain states of being if he's been in them long enough (e.g. being the inventor's assistant, being in jail, being in Oletus Manor...) but details such as names and dates are going to be forgotten if he doesn't have reminders. At least he retains all of the technical knowledge he's learned so he can work on machines and wiring, but having terrible memory does not help his focus at all.

Yet not even that will stop him from pursuing his greatest dream: To finally bring his greatest invention to life. Invention is the only thing that seems to keep him moving forward at times where it seems all hope is lost, and he is happiest when he gets to sit down and work on new technology that could be used to better the world. Unfortunately, the fact that he lost everything after he was sent to prison and had no money to fund his greatest project made him absolutely miserable. How could that wonderful machine ever be completed without funding? That's why he saw that invitation to Otleus Manor as an opportunity. He was promised a fortune to do with as he pleases if he won the manor's game, and he jumped at the chance to earn it. He strongly believes that invention will be worth everything he went through and would do almost anything for it, even take risks that may cost him his life.

His ambition to invent isn't the only good thing about him. He's still a friendly sort who gets along with most people and he's still rather polite in spite of it all. He's happy to show off his inventions, especially that grand invention when he finally completes it, but otherwise he presents himself rather humbly. He also retains an interest in new technology and will start fiddling with electric wires if you leave him in a room with them. In fact, he may get so invested in tinkering that he won't notice anything else right away.

Going through a murdergame with no memories can have an interesting effect on people. For one, Luca's gained an appreciation for "futuristic" technology. He'd also started off with the goal of trying to regain his identity... But as his own memories trickled in randomly, starting with the memory of being in prison, he realized that maybe trying to go home might be a bad idea for him. Yuri suggested Luca should move on from the past he couldn't remember and try to reinvent himself, an idea that seemed more appealing as he remembered more fragments of his painful past.

It's probably a good thing he decided to start all over elsewhere when he learned he was a clone, but this revelation opened a different can of worms for him. Sure, there's no reason for him to fully go back to a life that wasn't really his, but he still has to live with the knowledge that his original probably died a ruined man. Suddenly gaining control of the universe also comes into conflict with his desire to invent, since willing things into existence simply does not compare to the feeling of completing something he put a lot of time and effort into. So, he's trying to figure out what to really do with himself as he works out a way to contact other worlds.

At least he has his lovers. The main reason he grew so close to them was because they supported him in their own ways. Surolam was a constant comfort in times of stress, and Yuri did a lot to help him when he needed it. He also appreciates the sympathy they showed when he remembered those awful events. Their presence keeps him somewhat grounded when he feels lost, and he couldn't have asked for better companions.

One last thing to note: The first thing he did with his newfound omnipresence was fix some of his brain damage. He finally doesn't have to worry about forgetting everything! However, he didn't bother regaining too many of his lost memories (they are painful and numerous) and he neglected to fix his focus issues (He... Didn't think this was a problem.) So while he's not likely to forget important details, he isn't likely to notice what's happening around him if he's working on something.

Physically, Luca is largely the same as his original counterpart. However, Yuri removed the chain from his neck a long time ago, and he's very happy to not have to wear it. He's often seen wearing a green hoodie that just so happens to resemble a Creeper from Minecraft (whatever that is). It's more of a tragic keepsake than anything, as Yuri was the one to give it to him long before his execution.

When he's not wearing that default outfit, Luca's fasion sense can be described as... An attempt? He's the kind of person who thinks jeans and jean overalls look good with everything, alright? He may be seen wearing a greenish-bluish striped shirt instead of his prison shirt for obvious reasons, and he does have his nice suit from his "past" for special occasions. Whenever that may be.

Tries to be helpful sometimes, but mostly comes off as an awkward nerd person. Still kinda beat up looking. Could probably pass as someone from the 21st century at first glance.

Canon History

Luca’s childhood is largely unknown to the public and he can’t remember much of it himself, but he comes from an aristocratic family. His father was a brilliant man, or so Luca assumed after he found three pages of an incomplete draft, but he lost his fortune to failed investments and had to sell his wife’s dowry to pay them off, causing his wife to die of shock. Luca could not forgive the damage his father had done to his family and future, so he ran away to seek his own success.

Even after what happened, he had a great interest in inventions. He was determined to finish what his father started himself, which led him to seek out Alva Lorenz. Lorenz, the city’s famed inventor, seems to have some ties to Luca’s father (and his manuscripts). It was no surprise that he eventually saw value in Luca and made him his apprentice. Luca had to give up one of his own manuscripts for the opportunity, but he was confident his own worth would exceed that of any document. Things started off so well, people assumed that young Luca would one day inherit the Inventor’s role...

Everything came crashing down as their experiments failed.

It started with an academic dispute. Lorenz claimed that someone broke into his laboratory and stole valuable research. Although police suspected this to be the work of Lorenz’ competitors, the great inventor blamed his own apprentice, calling him an ungrateful traitor and claiming he was selling his research to his competitors. Luca had a claim of his own, that the man he worked for was nothing but a fraud who kept stealing ideas.

Nobody knows the truth of the matter. Luca continued the experiments on his own, but... The last thing Luca remembers about his final experiment was Lorenz shoving him to the ground... While Luca was holding a live wire. The electricity went out of control and caused a horrible explosion. Three dead, two severely injured, one with minor injuries. Luca was among the survivors, though his injuries resulted in brain damage. Lorenz was among the deceased.

Luca was arrested for murder and conducting illegal experiments. After spending some time on death row, someone finally pardoned him at the last second. Not that it did much good; he was still imprisoned and forced to do factory work, his wealth and possessions were sold off to compensate the inventor’s widow, his reputation was in shambles... And worst of all, he didn’t have the focus or funds to complete his own grand invention.

Things changed one day when he found a strange letter in his locker. Come to Otleus Manor, it read, you may win a fortune if you participate in our treasure hunting game. Luca jumped at the chance to turn his luck around and escaped prison to participate... Only to find himself trapped in an eternal game of cat and mouse.

WCB History

Much of the history above seems irrelevant with this iteration.

See, at some point the ghosts of Pacman managed to fuse with it and chain it to their wills before moving on to devour their universe and turn it into a giant supercomputer. Then they wanted to "understand" humans, so it made AI copies of Luca and a bunch of other people from various worlds... Why? To subject them to countless murdergames, changing variables and wiping memories each time.

Unfortunately for Luca's clone, the original's memory issues and the lack of info on his profile meant he kept starting off with near total amnesia.

He still only remembers the bare bones of his original's life and the previous cycles are a traumatizing blur, but he does remember the last cycle fairly well. This was because people started remembering bits and pieces of previous cycles when they couldn't before...

Over the course of the murderous game, Luca was continuously given confusing motives he couldn't remember the context for... He also managed to bond so closely with Surolam Arcel and Yuri Leric he agreed to enter a relationship with them. Yuri's encouragement coupled with the hazy recollections of his tragic life convinced Luca he would be better off escaping to one of his lovers' worlds and starting over from scratch.

Too bad Yuri was executed and revealed to be a traitor one week. Luca barely remembers the ordeal, but he understands Yuri was plotting to betray the Four-in-One (their captors) and forgives him for resorting to such extremes... A week later, Luca got himself killed while trying to dismantle a death trap.

He woke up in a seemingly abandoned city with the other dead and a girl named Rakka, who was forced to reveal herself as their original overseer. The city turned out to be Pacman's stomach, and Rakka only had enough time to reveal the true nature of everyone's existence before everyone was swallowed whole. Luca ended up as a "lost soul" like the others, reduced to despair, knowing only of his failures and shortcomings.

It's a blessing the survivors managed to reach them. The man who set the death trap helped, but it was ultimately Surolam who finally brought him back to his senses with her feelings for him. As all the Lost Souls were restored, the group was finally able to free themselves from the cycle.

With Pacman and the Four-in-One reborn as the innocent Kirby, the group was left in a blank world. They gained full control of the supercomputer, which means they could bring whatever they want into existence. The first thing Luca did with this new power was finally fix his memory issues for good. He could probably restore his previous memories as well, but he didn't have much reason to bother with that. For now, he has his lovers and freedom. That should do for now, until the group decides to try creating their own world or something.

Luca loves messing with technology. Originally, he was very skilled with electrical wiring, but over the course of his existence he's gotten familiar with more modern computers as well. His expertise leans more twoards the technichal side rather than the coding bit, but give him some time and he could eventually figure out a way to hack into the matrix or something. Just... Don't expect him to notice things happening around him if he's focused on his work.

Extended Charges

For some reason, Luca's able to accumulate an electrical charge. It takes a few moments to charge, but he can release this charge to electrocute people. It all comes out at once, but the target will only be stunned for a few seconds and can build up an immunity.

The Supercomputer

At the moment, Luca lives in a simulation that spans an entire universe. It's mostly empty at the moment, but he and his fellow AI have full control over it. This means he can be and create whatever he wants... As long it's in the supercomputer. This ability will not work outside of it. Probably a good thing, since he barely knows what to do with it.

 Luca was very lucky to have her for a roommate for the last cycle. Although he was initially confused by her advances, the woman has been nothing but supportive the whole time they've been together. Luca appreciates her kindness and sympathy, though her displays of affection still catch him off gaurd every so often.

A cunning rogue, the sort of person who makes the best of what he has and runs with it. While it's probably not wise to get too comfortable with a thief, Luca feels he's not much better given his criminal record... And yet, he feels Yuri is much more genuine in his actions than the common scoundrel.

The police's preliminary investigation suggests that explosion was caused by an illegal experiment conducted by Lorenz' assistant, Luca Balsa.

WCB: A Mess of Crossed Wires

The headache eventually subsided, but every time he tried to remember what happened in that experiment he felt completely lost. How long had he been in the experiment? In that manor? In prison? He sure has a knack for getting trapped in miserable conditions, that was a constant...

He also had a knack for getting himself killed. How did it happen this time? Electrocution again? No, if that were the case then Ivar would have died the same time he did... Who killed him this time? Hiro? Saul? Someone else he doesn't remember...? Did he... Accidentally kill someone? Again? He was reminded of the accident that killed his mentor during the trial...

Ah! Right. Another constant seemed to be how he'd always wake up at the start as a blank slate. Sometimes he'd die before learning about his past. Other times he'd reinvent himself before he did. He'd even given himself a new name a couple of times... What even was his name again? Tesla? Viper? Zero?

... Luca. It was Luca Balsa. Everyone calls him Luca more often than not. He barely remembers how he managed to bond with everyone, or how the challenges went... He was pretty good at some of them...

... He tried to escape. He tried to escape multiple times, that was another constant... He isn't sure what he tried before, but now? It's different. People know more now than they have before.

They'll get out this time. He'll get out this time. He's sure of it. If only he could find a crack in the walls of this prison...

Luca Balsa in Other Worlds

Viper: A mysterious adventurer.

Appearance Reference

They call him "Viper" for the strange markings on his face. While he doesn't remember who he is or where he came from, he's eager to find out. Those mystical artifacts he found along the way could be clues to his past, and the runaway shaman he crossed paths with makes for a helpful guide.

His adventures are not without peril. The jungle is full of vicious creatures and dangerous traps, and his every move is being tracked by a vengeful goddess. That hardly deters him, though. There's so much to discover out there, and he's determined to reclaim his past or die trying.

Boidae: An unfortunate explorer.

He joined the expedition in search of lost treasure and ancient history, but it looks like he wandered too far from the rest of the team. Now he only hopes he can find civilization before it's too late...

Electrolysis: A mad alchemist.

Appearance Reference

One of the few people who still believe in the miracles of alchemy. He specializes in manipulating inorganic compounds, using electrolysis to turn lead into gold and creating strange machines... Among other things, of course. With his beautiful assistant by his side, he challenged his rival's attempts to manipulate the body and soul with his own attempts to transmutate nonliving material.

Alas, there's a heavy price to pay for tampering with the natural order of things. His experiments are slowly eating away at his body and mind. While he can replace parts of himself with machinery to survive, there's nothing he can do about his deteriorating memory or dwindling sanity. Yet the fool continues with his misguided work, undeterred by his metamorphosis...

Racing Mechanic: A scruffy grease monkey.

Three corporate giants- Energy, Transportation, and Medical- are coming together for the Great Race. A prize worth more than all the money in the world awaits the winner, but the course is full of nasty secrets and there's a twisted monster out for the racers' blood!

Thank god Luca's not participating in the race.

See, he used to work for the Energy Corperation, but as the big companies delved deeper into things that should not be tampered with he quit and went to apply his skills to better use. He's pretty lucky everyone seems to be caught up in that Big Race; As a freelance mechanic he has no shortage of cars and bikes to repair. Grueling work, yes, but he's a lot happier here.

However, he still gets those weird headaches from time to time... And that vague sense of deja vu... Hey, what happened to that Highway Cavalier's face?

BACKSTORYLuca’s childhood is largely unknown to the public and he can’t remember much of it himself, but he comes from an aristocratic family. His father was a brilliant man, or so Luca assumed after he found three pages of an incomplete draft, but he lost his fortune to failed investments and had to sell his wife’s dowry to pay them off, causing his wife to die of shock. Luca could not forgive the damage his father had done to his family and future, so he ran away to seek his own success.

Even after what happened, he had a great interest in inventions. He was determined to finish what his father started himself,  which led him to seek out Alva Lorenz. Lorenz, the city’s famed inventor, seems to have some ties to Luca’s father (and his manuscripts). It was no surprise that he eventually saw value in Luca and made him his apprentice. Luca had to give up one of his own manuscripts for the opportunity, but he was confident his own worth would exceed that of any document. Things started off so well, people assumed that young Luca would one day inherit the Inventor’s role...

Everything came crashing down as their experiments failed.

It started with an academic dispute. Lorenz claimed that someone broke into his laboratory and stole valuable research. Although police suspected this to be the work of Lorenz’ competitors, the great inventor blamed his own apprentice, calling him an ungrateful traitor and claiming he was selling his research to his competitors. Luca had a claim of his own, that the man he worked for was nothing but a fraud who kept stealing ideas. 


Nobody knows the truth of the matter. Luca continued the experiments on his own, but... The last thing Luca remembers about his final experiment was Lorenz shoving him to the ground... While Luca was holding a live wire. The electricity went out of control and caused a horrible explosion. Three dead, two severely injured, one with minor injuries. Luca was among the survivors, though his injuries resulted in brain damage. Lorenz was among the deceased.


Luca was arrested for murder and conducting illegal experiments. He doesn’t remember how long he had been on death row, but someone finally pardoned him from the death penalty at the last second. Not that it did much good; he was still imprisoned and forced to do factory work, his wealth and possessions were sold off to compensate the inventor’s widow, his reputation was in shambles... And worst of all, he didn’t have the focus or funds to complete his own grand invention.

Things changed one day when he found a strange letter in his locker. Come to Otleus Manor, it read, you may win a fortune if you participate in our treasure hunting game. Luca jumped at the chance to turn his luck around and escaped prison to participate.

THE GAMES
We currently don't have much to go off lore-wise, but it's easy to draw some conclusions based on how the actual game was played and how some of the previous rounds played out in the story. 
At least four survivors would arrive to the manor at a time.
They were told to keep up a diary on a regular basis and not leave the house.
Failure to follow the rules would result in punishment.
Their goal as survivors is to survive... The Hunters. Some of those hunters were in previous games. Some of those hunters should have been dead. Some of those hunters weren't even human.
The actual gameplay consists of the survivors trying to decode a certain number of ciphers so they can power on the gates and escape. They must be careful not to get caught by the hunters, or else the hunters will tie balloons to them and drag them off to be tied to a rocket chair. If it sounds silly now, then it should be known that the chair and balloons seem to be a metaphor for more... Dangerous events. Thank you, censors!
As a survivor, Luca has some special abilities listed below that make him suited for decoding ciphers quickly, which make him more of a hunter magnet in practice. We don't know much about who Luca was playing with lore-wise, but he must have managed to buy himself some time to rewire the mansion/playing area and get a connection between both gates established.
ABILITIES
Circuit Control: Luca is so familiar with how electric circuits work, he is able to weasel his way into the electric system and rearrange the connections. In Identity V, this ability is mainly used to connect two ciphers and decode both of them simultaneously. However, as Identity V is set between the late 1800's and the early 1900's, Luca would not be as familiar with modern technology such as computers and wireless connections. He's a grease monkey, not a hacker.
"Conductor": The only good thing Luca got from that accident was the ability to hold an electrical charge. It builds up as he works, especially if he's using something that has an exposed wire or some sort of electric current. Once he's charged up, he can release this energy at will. He has no control over how much electricity is released, given that he releases the full charge all at once, but it's enough to stun someone for a short period of time, but the target will develop a resistance to the shocks if zapped multiple times. Also, once he's released the electric charge, he can't zap any more until he recharges. 
This clip is a decent demonstration of what this ability can do, except without the static magnetism and giant explosions.

Inventions: Luca mental capabilities may have deteriorated, but he's still smart enough to create some nifty gadgets if you give him enough time and resources. He knows how to McGyver a fuse box from scratch, at least... But his greatest wish is to complete that grand invention he and his mentor started. If only he had the funds to do so.

WEAKNESSES
Memory Loss: The accident has left Luca with irreversible brain damage. His memory has deteriorated to the point where he easily looses track of time and much of his past is a blur to him. It will take him a little longer to recognize acquaintances.
Obsession: His focus has also been affected by the brain damage. Either he has a hard time concentrating or he gets so caught up in a task he fails to notice anything else around him until it's right in his face.

DEMEANOUR
At first glance, Luca's a bit tough to puzzle out. Is that a dopey grin on his face, or a look of mischief? He seems confused half of the time, partially because his memory's a bit like swiss cheese at times, but his curiosity remains in tact. He may even seem approachable once you get past the whole "sketchy looking character" thing.

OLFACTORY
Tends to smell faintly of iron at all times. 

MENTAL NOTES
Anyone who can read minds might take note of how the brain damage affects his mind. There's a noticeable amount of static buzzing around in there clouding his memories and scattering his thoughts. At least it's manageable... To an extent.

MAGICAL NOTES
Anyone who can sense magic will note that Luca is average in this regard. He has taken no precautions to protect himself against magical attacks... And likely wouldn't know how to do so.

BIO: Not much is known about this guy, which sucks because we can't write a proper bio with what we could find. We do know that he's from the mid-1800's and he's pretty smart for someone who can't remember what day it is.

Holiday Sweater - Dear god this thing is tacky, but it's fluffy and warm.

Plumber Uniform - Blue overalls with a stylish red shirt and hat.

Super Mush - A really big mushroom, it makes you feel larger than life.

Slowpoke Tail - A rare delicacy which is almost certainly illegal or at least should be. Eaten...

Nice Cream - The frozen treat that warms your heart! A lovely compliment is printed on the stick. Eaten.

Carrot Cake - This is a crispy pancake with carrots mixed in. Eaten at the dinner party.

The Embelleshed Suit - The shirt’s a bit torn, but this ensemble from the 1800’s still looks presentable after all these years... Traded a Warp Star with Astronema for it.

Toolbelt - Contains a rope, a wire, and other tools useful to an electrician from the late 1800’s. Probably belongs to Luca, he's keeping this.

Lazybones Sunday - A comfortable outfit consisting of a white T-shirt, blue sweaterjacket, shorts, and soft houseslippers. Just wearing it makes you bone tired.

Rubik's Cube - A rotating puzzle cube; try to solve it without just taking all the stickers off and putting them back on.

Bowtie - They're not cool, they're never gonna be cool, but they're incredibly dapper.

Fluffy Socks (X2) - You can never have enough.

Metool Plush - A hard-workin' little construction robot, now in cuddly plush form!

Alarm Clock - A small alarm clock shaped like a talking dolphin! Announces the time in a very smooth voice. Obtained from Yuri.

Do The Creep - A lovely green hoodie with a strangely rectangular face on it? Wearing it makes you feel the odd urge to hiss and blow up at everyone. Obtained from Yuri.

FORMAL WEAR - A black dinner suit with a red tie. Obtained from Rokurou.

Highlighter - Not an actual light source, just a bright marker for indicating important pieces of text.

Potion - It heals 20 HP! ...This might just be a spray-on combination of a disinfectant and liquid bandage, but it seems to work well on small wounds.

A Pirate's Life For Me - Not an actual life, just the outfit. But you could MAKE it a life if you wanted, because a pirate is free. Eye-Patch not included.

Eye-Patch - Plain and black, but functional. Yar har fiddle-dee-dee.

Bottle - For holding milk, or bugs, or pixies. You know, normal things.

Zodiac Shirt - A plain black T-shirt with a Taurus symbol on it in red. 

GUN - A Beretta 90-Two 9mm pistol. It's not loaded.

Trading
Birthday Present - A simple necklace with a pendant with a charm carved on the back. It looks like it was made by a budding craftsman. Given back to Collette.

CREPE - A crepe filled with strawberries and fresh whipped cream, each flavor beautifully complementing the other.

Warp Star - An incredibly fast personal spaceship! This one's been limited to hovering a foot or two off the ground, have fun with your hoverboard.

Mushroom Rice Ball - There's no salt. Dear god, why isn't there any salt.

Fruitcake - Some kind of fruit-infused pancake? It looks like a meat patty. Eaten at dinner party.

Suspicious Dice - A set of dice that always produce the same results when thrown; they probably belong to a skilled swindler. Given back to Yuri

SAUL GOODMAN LICENSE PLATE - It's a mustard yellow New Mexico license plate reading "LWYRUP". Given back to Saul.

Snow Hare - A charm from the town of Flanoir in the shape of a white rabbit that is supposed to bring good luck. It looks like it's been pierced with something sharp.

Wake-Up Slap - A canned coffee-based energy drink in curry flavor, from Spacebucks. Given to Hiro.

Home Video - A VHS tape labeled "Cambridge, 1991" that mostly shows a little British girl with pigtails playing in the leaves with her parents. Given back to Rachel.

The Brian - A concealing black bodysuit with double yellow dragons embroidered on the chest.

Smuppet - A puppet of dubious origins, with a long probiscus-like nose and a firm, plush rump. RELEASED INTO THE WILD.

"Hit Your Mark and Say Your Lines" by Gene Cousineau - A memoir and guide to acting by a veteran actor. Given back to Barry.

Lavender Powder - A small, tightly-closed wooden box of pressed lavender colored powder of a high quality.

Cloak - It's not magical in any way, but it might make you feel like it.

Wildberry Crepe - It's a very crispy crepe. Not burned, but very tough. Could've used butter.

COWboy Boots - These- aren't boots? They have guns for the heels and- oh god they look like hooves why.

Curry - SO SPICE. You might literally breath a little fire.

Kazoo - A small, easy to play child's instrument.

Freddy Mask - Some kind of bear mascot mask? It has an undefinable air of menace to it.

Chicken Suit - That's no man, THAT'S A GIANT CHICKE wait, no, it actually is just a weird suit.

PLAYER PIN - Every Player needs one of these and now you have your very own! Welcome to the Reaper's Game.

Melon - This thing's pretty big, even for a melon. Too bad it's a honeydew, aka water masquerading as a melon.

Cherries - A single pair of juicy red cherries. They're each the size of a soccer ball.

Insect Husk - A gift from Ivar. This discarded insect shell could be viewed as a symbol for change, if you're a sensitive poetic type.

WE COULD BE... Endgame.StatusSo... It turns out every participant was a virtual clone created by a pacman virus that ascended into godhood... And they've been subjected to the experiment more times than anyone can count. After the Pacman god was defeated, the participants were left with complete control over an empty universe nestled inside a supercomputer.
Luca's not too sure what to think about this whole situation. By the end of it all, he had already been convinced to leave his own world and try to rebuild himself elsewhere. However... Being a virtual clone with the ability to will things into existence opens up an entirely new can of worms... 
Ah well, at least he could finally fix his memory problems, sort of.
Currently sticking close to his lovers, Surolam and Yuri, as he figures out where to go from here.
